At Fair Haven, preparation for confirmation may begin when youth come into the fifth grade. This begins a time when when young people begin to move from concrete thinking to abstract thinking and is when many people begin to make lifelong faith decisions. During these years youth are seeking a sense of belonging. Belonging to the community of faith is an appropriate response to that developmental task.
Our church offers a series of classes led by Senior Pastor Paul Thomasson leading to the ritual of confirmation for those who choose to receive it and are deemed ready to do so. Most years, the Confirmation Class is received on Easter Sunday, but it may be scheduled at any time.
Letters of invitation to join a confirmation class are sent out each year to those entering the fifth grade and to those older students who have not been confirmed in the past. The basic beliefs of the Christian faith are discussed and what it means to be a United Methodist.
