A Christian Understanding of Funerals and Memorial Services
A funeral or memorial service is a service of death and resurrection: it honestly faces the reality of death and grief, while witnessing to the Christian hope of resurrection and life after death. Your loved one will be remembered and celebrated, as God is praised and thanked for the gift their life represents.
It is our hope that when your time of grief and loss comes, the funeral or memorial service will be a part of the healing process. Grief affects everyone differently, and your faith journey through it will be done in your own way. God wants to lead you back to wholeness, and our church will keep you in prayer as you move through this difficult time. There are comforting words in the scriptures which have helped guide many along this path.

Planning A Funeral or Memorial Service...
Many decisions must be made in a short time when a loved one dies, including any plans they may have pre-arranged, any preferences of the family, financial issues, or other important matters. We hope that this information will help you with some of these decisions when the necessity arises, since they affect the shape of the service we will be working together to plan.
Memorial gifts may be given to a special endowment at Fair Haven for funeral services, which helps people unable to afford a funeral to still have a meaningful service.
